Powers Construction
Artistry. Craftsmanship. Value.
I have worked on many custom homes - involving all phases of construction.  Spending many years as a framer - I honed my skills until good enough to be a finish specialist. Although I can run all trades of subcontractors - I consider myself a "bags-on" builder, not a "windshield "drive-around contractor.

I like the daily challenge of assessing the task at hand and actually physically participating in its completion. I have worked with lots of homeowners directly, and many contractors / subcontractors full time, all requiring diligence and attention to detail. There is a "standard" - it's called perfection! Though hard to obtain it remains as our goal with installing of any building material!!

I enjoy the reward and beauty of a high quality completed project - where the end result is equal to more than the sum of its parts. A lot of hard work goes into making something beautiful. What started out as a pile of lumber ends up being your cozy home. Pride of workmanship is a given.  Hard work is expected and delivered. Honesty and trust are paramount, and advice given is forthright and appropriate.

I have a wide range of knowledge and practical experience in residential construction. I have a skill set suited to producing tight tolerances - the ability to focus intensely and the drive for the quality completion of any job large or small.  I bring the same passion for a custom cabin or a cute little garden gate - a beautiful hardwood kitchen or a unique deck railing.

I've worked seamlessly with architects and engineers and have drafting and design skills.  Which I have used mostly on my own projects, spec homes, custom kitchens, woodworking and furniture designs.  I am confident I can take your project to a level of beauty and craftsmanship which will exceed your expectations.

Growing up next door to a custom builder in Northern California Redwood country, saw me and the contractor's son spending summers framing houses while in junior high. By the time I started college I was already a journeyman carpenter.   "old school "- we built and did everything from the ground up-concrete,  framing, roofing  siding , painting,  interior finish carpentry and cabinets.

After college, the travel bug hit me and my construction experience followed. I worked in Alaska (Anchorage) as a cabinet maker, in Hawaii (Maui) as a rock mason, San Diego (Del Mar) as a finish carpenter and cabinetmaker.  Ultimately I moved to Lake Tahoe (Truckee, North Lake Tahoe & Reno) working as a framer / high end home builder and eventually a finish contractor.

Now as somewhat of a snow bird - I find myself splitting time between Lake Tahoe and San Diego.  All offers will be considered and I will travel/stay as the project demands. Let me tackle your unique project and I will give you my passion for excellence in all phases of construction.

Sincerely,
Rusty M. Powers
